Tato Architects / Dental Clinic in Nakayamate
“This clinic is characterized by the translucent archetypal house inserted into the white painted bare concrete space. By inserting the volume in between the existing concrete beams, its ceiling is kept as high as possible. In contrast to the rough exposed concrete, the inserted volume creates a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
The light shining through the translucent poly-carbonate ceiling panels brightens the consultation rooms. In this way, the eyes of the patients on the tilted dental chairs are protected from direct light.
Due to functional challenges such as preventing contamination, healthcare facilities tend to be inevitably cold spaces. By controlling light it is possible to meet with functional requirements and at the same time achieving a peaceful spatial environment.”
