Glickman Schlesinger Architects / Williamsburg Apartments
Glickman Schlesinger Architects
“As part of the Williamsburg Adaptive Reuse Project, Glickman Schlesinger Architects designed the two apartments on the second floor of the former paper doily factory. In both apartments, the original ceilings, timber, were uncovered and restored. The existing maple floors were sanded and refinished. In the owner apartment, a two-bedroom two-bathroom home for the owner of the building, the original skylights were reopened and refurbished.
Custom walnut millwork was designed to complement the gray IKEA kitchen cabinets and the colorful tiles requested by the owner. In the second apartment, which is used as a rental, simplicity was a top priority. The bathroom, for example, combines Carrara marble tiles from Home Depot, a vanity from IKEA, and wood reclaimed from the building during the renovation.”
