Nicole Hollis / Marin Residence
“An advertising executive with a young family collaborated for five years with Jensen Architects on this unique property nestled in the Marin hillside with stunning views of Mt. Tam and the San Francisco Bay. The remarkable building comprises a series of floating planes that opens to the landscape and blurs the lines between indoors and out.
NICOLEHOLLIS was tapped to design the interiors and to bridge architecture with interior living. Inspired by the minimalist structure, NICOLEHOLLIS curated a highly edited collection of furniture to bring a sense of comfort and personal history —but not clutter—to the space. Two large-scale NICOLEHOLLIS custom pieces provide the anchors for the upstairs, a sofa banquette for the dining area and large sectional sofa for the living area. Chaise lounges and bright ceramic side tables punctuate the pool and deck areas. In the downstairs master bedroom, NICOLEHOLLIS designed a custom white oak master bed. Moments of whimsy and beauty are found throughout including a cobalt blue rope chair by Christian Astuguevieille and an oversize coffee table made from recycled black rubber tire treads. Floor-to-ceiling sheer white linen curtains delineate the main living areas and open completely to the outside, creating a gossamer glow at sunset. Natural finishes such as white oak and concrete further emphasize indoor-outdoor living.”
